INNOVATION & TECH
"CHINA'S HIGH-TECH REVOLUTION"
Understanding China's rise in science, tech and innovation, and what it means for you.
Although much of the world still considers China to be a place of low-quality manufacturing and knock-offs, the reality is that the country is rapidly becoming the world’s leader in science, technology and innovation. Since their unveiling in 2015 of the “Made in China 2025” plan, the PRC has been aggressively working to take Chinese-domestic content of core materials to 40% in 2020 and a staggering 70% by 2025, focusing on high-tech fields such as clean energy, AI, pharmaceuticals, electric vehicles, aerospace, IT and robotics.
These previously unimaginable goals coupled with having over 400 million middle-class consumers in-country, plus billions of dollars pouring into R&D, mean China’s place as a high-tech leader is rising at unprecedented rates. Meanwhile, international voices have been highly critical of the plan, claiming government subsidies provided to high tech industries in China will make it impossible for foreign firms without government funding to compete.
Katie speaks to business leaders, investors and regulatory voices around the world about how global industries are being impacted by what’s happening in China, and how they can capitalize. Drawing on a career of on-the-ground experience during the most exciting time in China’s economic and technological history, she brings her knowledge, story-telling and actionable insights to empower audiences on how to take advantage instead of being left behind.

LEADERSHIP
"GLOBAL LEADERS OF TOMORROW"
Why cultural understanding is critical to success in the global marketplace.
Early business in the 21st Century prioritized IQ. The present marketplace increasingly prioritizes EQ (emotional intelligence.) But the most valuable and sought after qualities of the future will be, without a doubt, those in possession of high CQ (Cultural Intelligence.)
As the world grows steadily smaller and modern technologies increasingly traverse invisible borders, those who excel at managing diverse teams, navigating cross-cultural communications, and leading cross-border negotiations will be the winning leaders of tomorrow. While traditional school systems have long focused on IQ and only recently begun integrating EQ into their curriculums, those wanting to capitalize on the future trend of CQ have but two options: learn by doing, or be mentored by those who already have.
Katie has spent her career living, working and managing relationships in China, and consulted in an additional 40 other countries. FUTURE TRENDS
"CHINA'S RISE TO SUPERPOWER"
How the rise of China and global shifts in power will affect the future.
While the US has held the title as the world’s economic superpower since 1871, China inches closer every quarter. Over the next 10 years, we will see many marketplaces, industries and geopolitical norms disrupted by Chinese consumerism, innovation and strategy. Over the last half-decade alone, China has already become the number one consumer of luxury goods. During the same time, their naval fleet has grown and now has more ships in the water than the United States. Whether weighing the future of marketplaces or military strategies, one this is certain: everything is up for grabs.
